Laura Wilson Obituary

LAURA  DAWN  DYKSTRA-WILSON

B.A.Sc., P.Eng., MBA

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Dykstra-Wilson of Bancroft, who passed away peacefully in the Kingston General Hospital on Sunday June 27, 2021 in her 46th year. Beloved daughter of Cor and Grace Dykstra. Granddaughter of Clarence and Jenny Dykstra. Dear sister of Kim (Tijmen Van Lindenberg), James (Hannah) Dykstra. Laura will be missed by her stepdaughters Hailey and Julie. Special aunt to Marlo, Isabella, Noah, Elias, Mackenzie and Brooklyn.  She is loved and missed by several aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss the late night texting conversations.

Laura graduated with her Civil Engineering Degree from Waterloo University and later completed her Master in Business Administration at Laurier University.  After University she worked for Rockwell Automation, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, and most recently Financial Controller at Murray Bros Lumber.  As well as volunteering with the North Hastings Fish Hatchery.

Laura had many talents and passions.  Her greatest passion was music.  She was an accomplished pianist, and shared this talent with her many piano students.  She was recently involved in reestablishing the North Hastings Community Band, where she played the flute and piccolo.  Her pets were her greatest companions and her cats Princess and Shadow will miss her greatly as she now gets to reunite with her dog Ridge.  She loved to share her passion of cooking with her nieces, spending days cooking up apple pies and bread for family meals, and always cooking enough to feed an army.   Her love for gardening always started early in the spring (end of winter) and provided many gardens with their plants for the year.  Her flowers adorned her home away from home at Pine Cliff Resort where she enjoyed spending her summers.

A virtual service will be held from Hebron Christian Reformed Church in Renfrew on    Friday July 2nd at 2:30. Interment will be at North Russell Union Cemetery at 4:30 where family and friends may join us to say our goodbyes.  She will be laid to rest beside her Beloved Grandparents Derk and Teuntje Nijhuis.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS society in memory of her grandmother.

Arrangements entrusted to the Fraser-Morris and Heubner Funeral Home Cobden.
