J. Gordon Wallace Obituary
JOHN GORDON WALLACE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Wallace at Caressant Care LTC Cobden, on Saturday January 18, 2025 at the age of 95 years. Gordon was the dear father of Susan Wallace (late Tom Brown), Patrick Wallace (Patti) and Kathleen Wallace. Also survived by grandsons Derek and Shane Wallace (Sarah) and great-grandson Wyatt. Predeceased by his son Neil Wallace, and his ex-wife Kathleen Finnigan.
Gordon was born in London England, within the sound of the Bow bells (a cockney). After school, he served in the British army and was posted to northern Africa. On his return to England he attended, and graduated from, Manchester University and started a career in teaching. In 1962 he and his young family immigrated to Ontario Canada. He taught in many high schools across the province, finishing his career at Fellowes in Pembroke. During this last posting he was responsible for one of the first computers to be installed in a Canadian high school, and for the first ever computer generated class schedule and library listing.
He enjoyed over 40 year's of retirement, during which he took on many projects. He is known for his devotion to his family. All who knew him, knew him as a happy, kind, and contented man. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
