It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Catharine Ellen Spurrell (nee: Rady) on Friday August 30, 2024.

Mom was in her 91st year and was the much loved wife and partner, for over 67 years, of Lester Gilbert Spurrell. Mom left this world surrounded by her family, Dad, Liane and Johnny, Greg and Cathy, Mark and Tina.

In life, Mom was an amazing person.  Many people referred to her as Mrs. S and loved her famous spaghetti dinners at Pinewood Park.  To the end, Mom had a great sense of humour and was a truly loved person.  She was our rock!!

Mom loved her family with a fierceness and spirit that was so endearing.  Mom has 5 grandchildren, Katelyn, Darragh and Harrison Maloney and Ryan and Shannon Spurrell.  Mom was also blessed to have four great grandchildren, Margo Maloney and Zoe Maloney (Darragh) and Luxsun and Braven Maloney (Harrison and Jade).  Our dear Zoe went to heaven at the age of one….she is always in our hearts and will be forever comforted by Mom in heaven.

Mom and Dad both grew up in Montreal.  In 1958 they married and moved to Ottawa for a short time before moving to Petawawa where Dad joined the Military.  After over 25 years in Petawawa Mom and Dad found their dream haven in Haley Station, Ontario on Jeffery Lake.  This was their paradise!

Mom and Dad spent over 30 years in Clearwater Beach, Florida where they made many life long friends and escaped the cold Canadian winters.

Our lives will never be the same…but we shall persevere in Mom’s memory.  Mom, we love you to Uranus and back….and Pluto too (Mom’s saying).
